Saving Schemes

The evolution of microfinance has had a clear focus on offering loans as a motor for economic development. Marije van Lidth de Jeude with the Center for Rural Development (CDR) realized a systematization of the saving schemes offered by different types of financial institutions in Honduras, from Savings and Credit Cooperatives or Cajas Rurales to Private Organizations of Financial Development and Banks or Financieras. The study was presented at the Second Central American Conference of Rural Finance in October 2010.
