Poverty and Human Development

Poverty and Human Development strategies are not mono-causal phenomena, nor are they restricted to short-term, single policy variables. The half-year course on this topic, organized by the International Center for Development Studies (ICDS), is part of a study abroad program and offers analytical tools for understanding the social, cultural and economic reality of Latin America. Combining theory and practice through field assignments, it deals with the sustainability of human development, its multidimensionality, the role of state, social policy, as well as the position of indigenous people, children and migrants.
