Indigenous Child Care

A study on the existing supply and demand for integral care services for children in early childhood (0-6 years) of migrant and settled indigenous populations in Costa Rica was developed by the Center for Rural Development (CDR) for UNICEF. Indigenous communities in Talamanca, ChirripĆ³, Coto Brus and the Los Santos area were included as case studies. Based on the acquired information on the existing supply services for this population, their needs for attention and the perspectives of diverse public and private stakeholders, proposals were formulated and alternative models for attention and public policy were presented.
