Conditional Cash Transfer Programs have been implemented in practically all countries of Latin America. The goal of Fundación Capital is to achieve financial inclusion of the beneficiaries of these programs (mostly women living in poverty and their children) by stimulating the culture to save money. For this they have been developing Proyecto Capital, together with the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos and support from Ford Foundation, in various countries of Latin America. A Company was asked to help implement this project in the Central American region and started with conducting studies in El Salvador and Guatemala to analyze the conditional cash transfer programs and financial sector in these countries and identify opportunities for implementing saving models and promoting financial inclusion of women that presently don’t have access to the banking system.
